OBSESSIONS: 1993 – 1998
.
In the Spring of 1993, I became disenchanted with the direction of my career as a professional photographer. After a brief period of self reflection, I decided I only wanted to photograph the things that I loved, and was most passionate about. It was an epiphanous moment in my creative life and career that would define my oeuvre for the foreseeable future. The erotic body of grainy black and white signature prints circulated the international photography press and mainstream magazines such as LIFE, MAX, VIBE, STERN, AMERICAN PHOTO, MEN’S VOGUE and PENTHOUSE magazine.
In 1998, my interest in fashion, portraiture and sex took center stage in a series of meticulously planned visual motifs which eventually led to my first book of photographs: OBSESSIONS, a series of black and white images published in 1998 by Edition Stemmle of Zurich, Switzerland. Foreward by the renowned photography critic, A. D. Coleman. Afterword by George Pitts, the legendary founding picture editor of VIBE magazine.
