COMPOSITES: SURREALISM 1980’S

I began my career in 1980 as a corporate/industrial and advertising photographer who specialized in colorful, graphic, and surrealistic imagery. I mastered my stylistic approach by developing a working relationship with expert lab technicians I frequently called upon in New York and in Philadelphia (where my studio was located) to assist in the making of surrealistic photographs, by implementing little known darkroom techniques that seamlessly montaged multiple images together onto one sheet of film. I was often assigned by various creative advertising agencies the task of producing complex image composites to promote a variety of products for various types of clients ranging from the fashion industry to pharmaceuticals. During the 1980’s composite photography was a lucrative speciality for a small group of elite professional photographers that included Pete Turner, Eric Meola and Michel Tcherevkoff.
