Danny Varughese is a practicing psychologist based in Philadelphia with a Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology from Temple University, Class of 2019. I had the pleasure of meeting him recently and learned about his other passion, music. When we first met, Danny shared a video clip on his cell phone of an impromptu musical performance that happened recently at a Philadelphia’s, Paper & Pine gift shop. It is a remarkable clip of the musician’s distinctive voice, stylish guitar riffs and an uncanny ability to remix familiar rap songs in a folkish style. In this clip, the remix is of rapper Logic’s, Under Pressure accoustified by the artist. Danny Varughese will be performing at the Legendary Dobbs on South street and other Philadelphia area venues in the coming months. Stay tuned! You will be amazed!
The Artists Statement:
Danny Varughese is a singer-songwriter/musician on a mission to create high-vibrational content with the intention of cultivating healing, inspiration, and positive momentum.
Working as a Mental Health Therapist simultaneously, he often finds ways to channel energy from the spaces he shares with clients to flow into the space that lies between his pen and the paper. His debut album “Common Ground” released in 2017 contained 9 original acoustically soulful songs aimed towards the illumination of the common ground underneath all humans. His sophomore album “Awakened Imagination” released in 2018 held the intention of doing just as the title states – awakening imaginative faculties by going beyond the conventional realm of ideas within songwriting. He specializes in creating visual content to accompany his sonic creations, paving the way for a very diverse and eclectic digital portfolio – including a music video filmed on The Great Wall of China. He has toured and played shows at many venues within the heart of Philadelphia and other various corners of the world – including Hard Rock Cafe, World Cafe Live, and beyond.
Editor’s Note: This Danny Varughese’s first contribution to Tony Ward Studio.
