From Russia With Love: Part 1

.

Past: Miss Joy’s Tale

.

I have this notion that everything in my past has led me where I am today….  I grew up in a small town called Dorothy, NJ where there’s only 1600 citizens, most people garden or hunt and where the kids grow up to become nurses or school teachers.  I was an only child who relied on my imagination and the internet for most of my fun – I was also the victim of relentless bullying from the girls, boys and even the kids in grades below me.  Frankly, I was the kid who farted in class, grabbed boys’ butts and wrote raunchy fanfictions at lunch.

I graduated the 8th grade in 2010 and by this time, Tumblr was becoming a big thing and the internet was still a shiny new playground full of wormholes to get stuck in.  I spent a lot of time in my early teenage years looking up BDSM related topics on Wikipedia, watching RuPaul’s Drag Race and surfing moody blogs with heavy undertones of pro-ana and softcore porn.  When I came across hardcore scenes taking place in dark, dusty dungeons, I associated it with the medieval castles described in books I would read about romance and time travel.  The idea of beating a topless chambermaid shackled to my bedroom wall as a gentle breeze kisses my face still lives rent free in my mind….

I got my first sex work job during the spring of 2015 as a stripper at Volcanic Eruptions in Mays Landing, NJ when I decided community college wasn’t my jive.  It was a seedy little place where girls did meth in the bathroom and did extras out of the eye of the cameras in the back rooms.  It’s also where I met the great love of my life, my partner and best friend.  We moved in together and I went back to civilian jobs for a couple of years while we lived in Toms River, NJ.

In 2017 I moved back home to South Jersey but not before meeting the mother of a dominatrix who came through my register line; we made small talk about summer reading.  I was reading Sex and the Citadel: Intimate Life in a Changing Arab World by Shereen El Feki and was the first book I read regarding sex culture.  I mentioned how I was always curious about the dominatrix world and she put me in contact with her daughter who gave me some great resources to start off with.  At 21 years old, I truly started diving into the swinger and BDSM community.  I learned a few things I liked, a few things I didn’t and I connected with kinky kindred spirits.  In 2019 I moved to Philadelphia where I knew I’d have an incredible time living out my mid-twenties.  My goal was to create a fantastical little independent life where I would go on countless adventures and see myself grow.

I am presently casting female subjects between the ages of 18 and 80 for a new body of work entitled “Vixens.” The series is inspired by women from different walks of life that embody and exemplify the title of the series.

Each person that is cast for the project  is asked to write a story about their life in three parts: past, present and future. Each essay (350 words+)  will be published on the website portal at https://tonyward.com along with pictures of each subject photographed for the series.

Snow Baby an exotic dancer who works at Cheerleaders in Philly, was selected recently for the project. Here is a link to her pictures and essays:

Yesterday’s Melody

Thinking back of the days gone by, we recline upon the porch swing and sigh
You were the one who saw beyond my immature wrappings
Whimsical lyric of a lark upon a branch above our heads, brings a laugh of youth to our lips
True it was of May and December
Passing sunsets to sunrise were where the melody played
Even as a few wisps of grey came, the notes of love matured in bliss
There were never any blank pages between you and I, as leaves drifted from the trees
Spaces of time before when we were one have been fused with kisses and hearts aflutter
Yesterday isn’t reeled in because the tune slows down with age
Affection’s afterglow traces a design of desire upon life’s page
Longevity’s tune plays softly across the calendar, as moonlight cradles us beneath a blanket of stars
You once pondered who I am and now I will tell you for sure
I am your Melody of yesterday, for now and evermore

The Past

.

I was born at Holy Redeemer Hospital in Meadowbrook, Pa. at 7:00AM on Friday, September 11th, 1998 to two drug addicted parents. My mom and dad got high off of anything they could touch.  I have eight siblings. We all were separated, wound up in foster care and group homes during our childhood and teenage years. I dropped out of Lincoln High school when I was 16 to work full time and eventually got my GED.  I also learned how to drive, got a license and saved up enough money to purchase my first car despite the fact that the group homes and foster care were a continuing nightmare while I was constantly being moved to a different home or mental hospital.

I was sexually abused my whole life physically and verbally by my dad and step dad and my step brother. My biological parents were never married. My father was with another deranged woman and my mother was with a terrible man, so all parents including step parents were also getting high. I was put into foster care when i was about 6.  While I was there, I was taken to a hospital for an infection. The next thing you know cops were at my house and I was removed from the home and foster care started up again, for years until I turned 18.

Needless to say, the foster  homes I was assigned to were not safe. One of the foster parents ended up being a child molester and went to jail for a long time. Officials kept removing me from several homes because of my behavior. Obviously I was acting out of the fear of repeatedly being raped. I was also adopted 2 times and put back into foster care and placed in a mental hospital in between those years at around 11 years old where they had me on different medications.

During those horrible childhood and teenage years,  i was running away from homes and placements. At some point I got involved with an older man who set me up for a robbery/assault that I was arrested for and sent to jail for 23 months. I was outside on my own trying to survive and trusted the wrong people to survive with.   I was released from prison at 21 years of age with a felony conviction, which makes it difficult to find a regular job.  Before I got arrested I was able to work several jobs. Now it’s not possible.

I turned to strip clubs to make a living and got my apartment in 3 months after I started learning the craft of pole dancing. Cheerleaders is the first real club I worked at with a degree of pride and dignity. Any club before Cheerleaders was an after hour 12-5 type of place, but not a gentlemen’s club.

I always seem to make it through anything i’ve had to face. Now I’m working on a new business plan I want to develop for a successful future.

Bob Shell: Censorship

Censorship

.

Very few things humans do rise to the level of true evil. True evil perverts the soul, keeps persons from thriving physically or mentally.

Censorship, attempted mind control, rises to that level of evil. No one is truly free mentally if someone else controls what she/he is allowed to see, hear, or think.

The Virginia Department of Corrections controls what we prison inmates may see or hear. It does so primarily by maintaining an extensive ‘disapproved publications list.’

That list is over one hundred pages long with fifty or more publications per page. Thousands of books and magazines are banned because some VDOC staffer was offended by them.

Anything in a language other than English or Spanish is banned, including some versions of the Bible that contain sections in the original Greek. Books on learning any language other than English or Spanish are banned. Books for popular role playing games are banned for being ‘written in code.’

I tried to order a book once on basic forensics. It was denied because they don’t want us knowing things that might undermine our convictions.

But the thing that really puts these people into hysterics is nudity. ‘People ain’t supposed ta be nekkid.’ This sexual hysteria has led to the banning of a magazine that contained a very famous painting of Adam and Eve because Eve’s breasts were bare. Any depiction that shows a female nipple or areola will be banned and confiscated.

Pointing out that the Virginia State Seal shows a goddess with one breast bared has accomplished nothing. The very paper we receive announcing the confiscation of a publication for nudity bears this seal! I have a collection of these because they were always confiscating my photography magazines and my Rolling Stone, and, of course, a number of issues of National Geographic are on that disapproved list. I used to subscribe to Vogue, but stopped because I’d get maybe four or five of the twelve issues, the rest confiscated.

The VDOC has a paid Publication Review Board that meets regularly to examine confiscated publications. Occasionally they will overturn the local decision and give us the publication months later, but it’s rare for them to do this. This happened with an issue of Rolling Stone that has a picture story by renowned photographer Sebastiao Salgado about an Amazonian tribe that doesn’t wear clothing. Months later I got the magazine with an approval letter from the PRC. This surprised me because the article’s photos depict full frontal nudity, male and female. I suppose it was approved for its anthropological value. These photos show more than Playboy, but we’re no longer allowed to subscribe to Playboy, due to the bare female breasts. Bare male breasts are just fine, of course, even Vladimir Putin’s. That’s discrimination on the basis of sex! Isn’t that illegal? My First Amendment lawsuit against the DOC, filed five years ago, still hasn’t been fully resolved, but with our law library closed since last March due to COVID, I haven’t been able to work on it.
